Greetings everyone in ECL 522!

Hello class! I am Zoe Olow! I am a 24 year old transfer student from Grossmont Collge and I am a ECL major! I am very excited to be in this class as I enjoy to read lots of different genres of books and this has been one I have been wanting to fully dive into as someone who loves the ocean and everything that dwells within! As I stated in my short intro in class, I have partially read Moby Dick before in high school, but I am very excited to actually fully read it with a new mindset and prepared to disect it as best as we can throughout the semester.

A little intro about me I enjoy to read, write, paint and go to concerts! I love to read all sorts of books but my favorite would have to be fantasy, romance, and historical! I am a frequent writer as I write little short shorties for myself, but I can hope that with my degree, I can persue some sort of writing career maybe within my current job or somewhere new. I love to paint and to make art, this is my way of calming down and relieving stress! I paint with oils mainly but I love digital art as well! For our final project I am considering painting something as that would be a strong suit for me! I cant wait to see what I can come up with as well as others. I am a avid concert goer and I am always looking forward to when my favorite artists come to California though they always go to LA and never San Diego (big sad)! I am avid Kpop muisc enjoyer and those are the concerts I go to the most which I always have the most fun at! I love dressing up to go to them and seeing my favorite artists in person! Also fun fact, I work at the San Diego Zoo as a Guest Ambassador, my favorite spot to be at is with the birds in the Africa Rocks Aviary!

I hope to talk to everyone in this class as we get to share the same space for this semester! I hope everyone has a good rest of their day and week! See you in class!

This is me at my most recent kpop concert, Xdinary Heroes, up in LA!

Welcome!

Welcome to our class blog for ECL 522: Moby-Dick! I am so excited to dive deep into this novel and all it can teach us about American literature, history, and identity. I am eager to meet you all and learn from you.. and I thank you for signing on to this exploratory journey.

See you soon!
